Zion National Park Engagement Photos

This was literally the most perfect day ever, I don't think anything will ever beat it!! When I started talking to Lesley + Tucker about photographing their wedding in Tampa, they mentioned wanting to do something adventurous for their engagement photos and were thinking of doing them at Zion National Park - I was immediately down! They had explored the park the year before and absolutely loved it, and since they've spent a lot of their relationship traveling, it felt most authentic to celebrate their engagement somewhere exciting.

We set it up to meet up in Utah in the beginning of summer - they were taking a week to explore Utah and the Big 5 National Parks and I was heading out on a month-long road trip out west. When we made it to Springdale we met up for dinner and finalized our plans for the next day over margs and dang I could not be more excited!

Zion Canyon Overlook Trail

We woke up before dawn and started with a sunrise hike at Canyon Overlook trail - a perfect easy hike for more formal outfits with a killer view! Definitely recommend getting there really early, there is limited parking and you'll want 15-20 minutes to hike up and catch the sunrise.

Here's Zion Canyon Overlook Trail on AllTrails, it's 1 mile out and back with 187 ft of elevation gain, takes about 30 minutes roundtrip.

Favorite Spots in Springdale, Utah

After our morning hike, we took a little break in Springdale to grab breakfast and prep for the rest of the day of hiking. Absolutely loved Feellove Coffee, they have great lattes and super good avocado toast! We went to their Western cafe location and rented e-bikes in the same building from Greater Zion eBikes, highly recommend e-bikes to hit a lot of trails in one day!

Other fav spots we hit in town were Deep Creek Coffee and of course Zion Brewery for a post-hike beer! The deer in town are wild, they'll run down the streets, unconcerned about people.

E-biking through Zion National Park

During peak season Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is closed to private vehicles, so you can either take the park shuttles or bike through the park. We hopped on e-bikes so we could go at our own pace and stop anywhere that looked cool - plus it was super fun!! We were able to stop at a bunch of overlooks and do a few hikes and the e-bikes made for perfect photo props!

The Watchman

Our first stop was in front of the iconic Watchman mountain peak. Our morning hike was a bit more intimate and romantic with fancier outfits but for the afternoon Lesley and Tucker put on some cute hiking clothes for a fun casual look. Once we stopped at our first spot Tucker threw Lesley over his shoulder and ran around with her - they're so freaking cute and fun, literally made my job so easy!

Virgin River | The Narrows

We explored along the Virgin River, skipping rocks and climbing around on the boulders by the narrows.

Emerald Pools

We spent the rest of the afternoon hiking at weeping rock and emerald pools until the storms started rolling into the canyon. We booked it down the mountain and started speeding out on our bikes but got caught in the pouring rain!

Rainy Zion Biking Photos

We biked through the pouring rain (I maayy have almost spun out) and by the time we made it back to the Watchman the rain cleared up and the gloomy weather brought out the best colors in the mountains! I'm obsessed with these moody blurry photos we got 🥹

Angel's Landing

The next morning we headed out for a hike up Walter's Wiggles and to Angels Landing, it was a solid day of hiking and of course, wrapped it up with a post-hike beer at Zion Brewery!

Exploring Zion with Lesley and Tucker was the absolute coolest time!
